Crankshaft Seal Retainer: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove transaxle from vehicle.
2. Remove flex plate.
3. Remove oil pan.

4. Remove bolts attaching oil seal retainer to cylinder block (Fig. 92).
5. Remove oil seal and retainer.
6. Remove oil seal from retainer.
INSTALLATION
1. Inspect and clean all sealing surfaces.

2. Install rear crankshaft oil seal in housing with Special Tool MD-998718 (Fig. 93).

3. Apply Mopar RTV GEN II Silicone Rubber Adhesive to the oil seal retainer housing (Fig. 94).
4. Apply light coating of engine oil to the entire circumference of oil seal lip.
5. Install seal assembly on cylinder block and tighten bolts to 11 Nm (104 in. lbs.)
6. Install oil pan.
7. Install flex plate. Apply Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive to bolt threads and tighten to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.).
8. Install transaxle.
