DRB III Error Messages

DRBIII ERROR MESSAGES AND BLANK SCREEN
If any of the following error messages appear on the DRB III screen, refer to Powertrain Management for diagnosis and repair.
- cartridge error
- low battery
- ram result failure
- high battery
- keypad test failure

If the DRB III has a blank screen, do the following:
- Ensure there is a good body ground at the data link connector.
- Use the process of elimination. Sequentially substitute another cable, cartridge, and DRB III until the condition is corrected.

Under normal operation, the DRB III will display only two error messages:
- User-Requested WARM Boot
- User-Requested COLD Boot

If the DRB III should display any other message, record the entire display and call the Star Center. This is a sample of such an error message display.

DRB III DOES NOT POWER UP
If the LED's do not light or no sound is emitted at start up, check for loose cable connections or a bad cable. Check the vehicle battery voltage and grounds to Data Link connector. A minimum of 11 volts is required to adequately power the DRB III.

If all connections are proper between the DRB III and the vehicle or other devices, and the vehicle battery is fully charged, an inoperative DRB III may be the result of faulty cable or vehicle wiring.

DISPLAY IS NOT VISIBLE

Low temperatures will affect the visibility of the display. Adjust the contrast to compensate for this condition.
