Powertrain Verification Test - Ver 4A
VERIFICATION TEST VER-4AApplicability - All
1. Speed Control Verification
2. Note: If the PCM has been changed and the correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a DTC will be set in the ABS and Airbag modules. In addition, if the vehicle is equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), Secret Key data must be updated to enable starting.
3. For ABS and Airbag Systems: ACTION: Enter correct VIN and mileage in PCM. Erase codes in ABS and Airbag modules.
4. For SKIM Theft Alarm: ACTION:
5. Connect the DRB III to the Data Link Connector.
6. Go to Theft Alarm, SKIM, Misc. and place SKIM in secured access mode, by using appropriate PIN code for vehicle.
7. Select Update Secret Key data. Data will be transferred from SKIM to PCM.
8. Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect all components as necessary.
9. Connect the DRB III to the PCM Data Link Connector and erase the codes.
10. Note: Ensure no other speed control problems remain by doing the following:
11. Road test the vehicle at a speed above 30 mph.
12. Turn the S/C ON/OFF Switch to the ON position.
13. Depress and release the SET Switch. If the S/C did not engage, the repair is not complete.
14. Note: Check for Technical Service Bulletins that pertain to SIC problems and then, if necessary, return to the symptom list and restart diagnostic testing for that symptom.
15. Quickly depress and release the RESUME/ACCEL Switch. If vehicle speed did not increase by 2 mph, the repair is not complete.
16. Press and hold COAST Switch, vehicle speed should decrease. If no decrease, the repair is not complete.
17. Using caution, depress and release the brake pedal. If the S/C did not disengage, the repair is not complete.
18. Bring the vehicle speed back up to 25 mph.
19. Depress the RESUME/ACCEL Switch. If the S/C did not resume the previously set speed, the repair is not complete.
20. Hold down the SET Switch. If vehicle did not decelerate, the repair is not complete.
21. Ensure vehicle speed is greater than 30 MPH and release the SET Switch. If vehicle did not adjust and set a new vehicle speed, the repair is not complete.
22. Depress and release the Cancel Switch. If the S/C did not disengage, the repair is not complete.
23. Bring the vehicle back up above 35 and engage S/C.
24. Turn the ON/OFF Switch to OFF position. If S/C did not disengage, the repair is not complete.
25. If the vehicle successfully passed all of the previous tests, the S/C System is now functioning as designed. The repair is now complete.
