SYMPTOM
P0740 - TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH, NO RPM DROP AT LOCKUP

WHEN MONITORED
Run in third with converter unlocked for 10 seconds, apply throttle until it locks then run for 5 seconds. No DTC's set for TCC solenoids, any cam/crank conditions, VSS, TPS signal, TPS voltage too high or TPS voltage too low.

SET CONDITION
Torque converter malfunctions are detected when it does not lock up or unlock properly. Two consecutive trips that fail will store codes. Mountainous terrain will cause this trouble code.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Fused ignition switch output circuit open
- Intermittent torque converter clutch solenoid
- Checking fluid level and condition
- Misfire codes set
- TCC operation
- Torque converter assembly defective or TCC solenoid stuck
- Vehicle configuration non-standard
- TCC solenoid defective
