SYMPTOM
P0500 - NO VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL

WHEN MONITORED
With the engine running more than 31 seconds, transmission not in drive or neutral, brakes not applied, ECT above 180 °F, MAP vacuum less than 11" and engine speed greater than 1800 rpm.

SET CONDITION
No signal from the vehicle speed sensor for more than 11 seconds.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Speed control
- Defective pinion gear
- Intermittent vehicle speed signal
- 8 volt supply circuit open
- Sensor ground circuit open
- Vehicle speed sensor defective
- Vehicle speed signal circuit open
- Vehicle speed signal circuit shorted to ground
- PCM defective
