SUBJECT:
Squeaking Sound From Rear Strut(s)
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a revised rear strut striker cap(s).
MODELS:
2000 - **2004** (LH) LHS/300M/Concorde/Intrepid
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Squeaking sound from rear strut(s) during suspension jounce.
DIAGNOSIS:
Bounce the vehicle so the rear struts are in the full jounce position or drive the vehicle over speed bumps at 8-10 mph. If a squeaking or croaking sound can be heard coming from either rear strut, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove and disassemble the rear struts as outlined in the appropriate LHS, 300M, Concorde and Intrepid Service Manual or service information on TechCONNECT.
2. Remove the strut striker cap by prying upward, first on one side of the cap then the other, until the cap is free of the strut housing and can be slid off the strut shaft.
3. Install the revised strut striker cap, p/n 05104743AA, by sliding it over the strut shaft until it contacts the strut housing. Gently tap the cap into place until it is fully seated in the strut housing.
4. Assemble the struts and install them into the vehicle as outlined in the appropriate LHS, 300M, Concorde and Intrepid Service Manual or service information on TechCONNECT.
