Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

Removal Service Point
Power Steering Oil Pump
Remove the power steering oil pump with the hose attached.

NOTE: Suspend the removed power steering oil pump (by using wire or similar material) at a place where no damage will be caused during removal/installation of the
intake manifold.

INSTALLATION

Install the gasket with the protrusions in the position illustrated.

>B<Intake Manifold Mounting Nuts Installation





Tighten the intake manifold mounting nuts one bank after the other by the following procedure.
1. Tighten the nuts in the front bank to 7 Nm (5.1 ft. lbs.)
2. Tighten the nuts in the rear bank to 20 to 23 Nm (14 to 17 ft. lbs.)
3. Tighten the nuts in the front bank to 20 to 23 Nm (14 to 17 ft. lbs.)
4. Repeat steps (2) and (3) again in the same order.

Install the gasket with the protrusions in the position illustrated.

INSPECTION
Check the following points. Replace apart if a problem is found.

Intake Manifold Plenum, Intake Manifold
1. Check for damage or cracking of any part.
2. Clogging of the negative pressure (vacuum) outlet port, or clogging of the gas passages.
3. Check direction of installation surface with straight edge and feeler gauge.
Standard value: 0.15 mm (0.006 inch) or less
Limit: 0.2 mm (0.008 inch)
