Water Pump: Description and Operation

The water pump has an aluminum body with a steel impeller. A gasket is used to seal the pump to the cylinder block. The water pump inlet is located at the rear of the pump, a inlet tube located between the cylinder heads connects the water pump with the thermostat housing. The water pump is driven by the timing belt. Refer to Engine, Timing Components, Service and Repair for timing belt removal.

NOTE: The water pump can be replaced with out discharging the air conditioning system.
