Oil Pan: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise vehicle on hoist and drain engine oil.
2. Remove engine support module.

3. Remove bolt (Item 3) attaching bending strut to transaxle.
4. Remove bolts (Item 1, 2) attaching collar to oil pan and transaxle.
5. To remove structural collar perform the following steps:
a. Rotate the rear of collar downward until its approximately in the vertical position.
b. Pull collar straight downward to release from the bending strut to transaxle interface.
6. Remove oil pan.
7. Clean oil pan and all gasket surfaces.

INSTALLATION

1. Apply Mopar(R) Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent at the oil pump to engine block parting line.

2. Install the oil pan gasket to the block.
3. Install pan and tighten the screws to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.).

CAUTION: Tightening procedure for the structural collar must be followed, or damage could occur to oil pan and/or collar.

4. Perform the following steps for installing structural collar.
a. Position collar in a vertical position and insert it between bending brace and transaxle interface.
b. Rotate free end of collar rearward until it's in position for bolt installation.
c. Install two center collar to oil pan bolts (Item 2). Pre-torque bolts to 3 Nm (25 inch lbs.)
d. Install collar to transaxle bolts (Item 1, 3) and tighten to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.)
e. Install remaining collar to oil pan bolts (Item 2). Starting from center bolts working outward, tighten to 34 Nm (250 inch lbs.)
5. Install engine support module.
6. Lower vehicle and fill engine crankcase with proper oil to correct level.
