Quarter Glass Weatherstrip Coating Peeling or Blistering

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing the weatherstrip show surface/division bar coating and re-coating with weatherstrip lubricant.

MODELS:

1997 - 2000 (JX) Sebring Convertible

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Quarter glass weatherstrip coating is peeling or partially peeling or blistering oft the show surface/division bar.

DIAGNOSIS:
If quarter glass weatherstrip coating is visually peeling or blistering off, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

AR 04773427 Mopar Weatherstrip Lubricant

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.

1. Wet the weatherstrip surface where the coating is peeling using Mopar Super Kleen, p/n 04886330AA, or naphtha. Do not remove the coating from the door glass sealing lip.

2. Vigorously wipe the moistened surface with a cotton cloth until the remaining coating is removed. It may be necessary to lightly buff the coating with 320 grit sandpaper prior to the Super Kleen application.

3. Coat the weatherstrip with Mopar Weatherstrip Lubricant, p/n 04773427.

4. Repeat procedure on other side of vehicle as necessary.
