Deployed Module

DEPLOYED MODULE
The instrument panel must be removed for DEPLOYED Passenger Airbag Module service.

REMOVAL
When removing a deployed module: rubber gloves, eye protection, and a long-sleeved shirt should be worn. There may be deposits on the surface which could irritate the skin and eyes.

1. Open hood and disconnect the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post.
2. Roll or fold the passenger airbag towards the instrument panel surface and tuck into instrument panel into module area. Then tape the ripped instrument panel pad over the deployed airbag.
3. Remove instrument panel and pad assembly Refer to Instrument Panel and Systems, for Replacement.
4. Remove Passenger Airbag Module. Refer to Passenger Airbag Replacement for a Non-Deployed Module.

INSTALLATION
1. Transfer all instrument panel components which are not damaged to NEW instrument panel and pad assembly. Tighten screws to 2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) torque.
2. For Installation of Passenger Airbag Module, reverse procedures outlined in the Non Deployed Module removal procedure.
3. For installation of the instrument panel, reverse the procedures outlined in Instrument Panel and Systems.
4. Do not connect battery negative cable remote terminal. Refer to Diagnosis and Testing for Airbag System Test procedures.
