SYMPTOM:
DELAYED ENGAGEMENT FROM NEUTRAL TO REVERSE

POSSIBLE CAUSES
- CLOGGED OIL FILTER
- L-R CLUTCH OR ACCUMULATOR SEAL LEAKAGE
- WORN OR FAULTY REVERSE AND/OR LOW REVERSE CLUTCHES
- FAULTY OIL PUMP
- HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TOO LOW
- INCORRECT GEARSHIFT CONTROL LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
- INCORRECT PRNDL CODE IN REVERSE
- L-R SWITCH VALVE STICKY
- LOW FLUID LEVEL
- WORN OR BROKEN REACTION SHAFT SEAL RINGS
- WORN OR FAULTY L-R RETAINER

Repair Instructions:
CLOGGED OIL FILTER
Check for Loss of Prime Code P1791. If present, select diagnostics from the Transmission
Symptoms List for Loss of Prime. Otherwise, replace Transaxle Oil Filter and Fluid.
Perform Transaxle 42LE Verification TEST VER-1A Verification Test VER-1A - Transmission Control System
L-R CLUTCH OR ACCUMULATOR SEAL LEAKAGE
Perform Clutch operation tests/ replace Accumulator Seal Rings.
Perform Transaxle 42LE Verification TEST VER-1A Verification Test VER-1A - Transmission Control System
WORN OR FAULTY REVERSE AND/OR LOW REVERSE CLUTCHES
Recondition Transaxle.
Perform Transaxle 42LE Verification TEST VER-1A Verification Test VER-1A - Transmission Control System
FAULTY OIL PUMP
Replace Oil Pump, check transaxle wear.
Perform Transaxle 42LE Verification TEST VER-1A Verification Test VER-1A - Transmission Control System
HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TOO LOW
Pressure check Transaxle / repair as necessary.

Replace Reaction Shaft Support Seal Rings..

Replace L-R Clutch Retainer.
