Repair Procedure

This bulletin involves inspecting the RKE receiver module and installing an RKE antenna overlay.

1. Remove driver's side instrument panel end cap.

2. Disengage clips attaching trim to A-pillar by pulling on trim.

3. Slide A-pillar trim rearward, to disengage from instrument panel top cover.

4. Disconnect wire connectors and remove the Junction Block/BCM.

5. Separate the Junction Block from the BCM, remove the three attaching screws and remove the RKE receiver module from the BCM.

6. Pry open the end flap of the RKE receiver module with a small screw driver and slide out the circuit board/wire connector assembly.

7. Inspect the circuit board for the C29 capacitor (Figure 1).

8. If the C29 capacitor is missing replace the RKE receiver module with p/n 04602269AA.

9. Re-install Junction Block/Body Control Module.

10. Route overlay antenna, p/n 05014753AA, along existing A-pillar wiring, adding spot tapes near existing clip locations. Place the antenna such that one "loop" of the antenna lays across the top of the windshield (perpendicular to the A-pillar), and the other "loop" down the A-pillar (Figure 2).

11. Tuck the "loop" of the antenna laying across the top of the windshield underneath the headliner.

12. Route the connector for the antenna through an opening between the A-pillar sheet metal and the instrument panel, feeding it below the junction block taking care to remain clear of the parking brake mechanism.

13. Connect the white two-way connector (RKE Antenna Connector) from the overlay antenna to the bottom of the RKE receiver module.

14. Tape the original two way antenna back upon itself to eliminate potential BSR.

15. Replace A-Pillar trim and verify correct RKE function.
