Door Trim Panel - Rattle Noise

THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH CHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.

MODELS:

1998 - 1999 (LH) Concorde/LHS/300M

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Door trim panel rattle/itch noise where the vinyl wrapped top section contacts the door inner sheet metal.

DIAGNOSIS:

If noise can be duplicated by driving over rough roads or owners description indicates that noise can be stopped by applying pressure to rear of door panel, perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 04773968 Tape, Flocking
(AR) 06504014 Clip, Door Panel Attaching, White, 2 Required Each Front/Rear
(AR) 06503204 Clip, Door Panel Attaching, Green, 1 Required Each Rear

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves applying flocking tape between the top rear of the door trim panel(s) and inner sheet metal as required.





1. Mark the outline of the rear vinyl wrapped edge of trim panel on the sheet metal using a grease pencil (Figure 1).

2. Remove the door trim panel.

3. Replace the (2) white clips on the trim panel with p/n 06504014.

4. Replace the (1) green clip on the trim panel with p/n 06503204 (rear doors).

NOTE:
LH VEHICLE DOOR TRIM PANEL CLIPS ARE NOT REUSABLE. ANYTIME A DOOR PANEL IS REMOVED THE CLIPS MUST BE REPLACED.





5. Using the flocking tape, p/n 04773968, completely cover the grease pencil mark made in Step 1 (Figure 2).

6. Install the door trim panel making sure all (3) clips are engaged, you should hear a snap as each engages.





7. Using a sharp utility knife cut the flocking tape along the edge of the door trim panel (Figure 3). Care must be used not to cut too deep into the metal and not cutting the vinyl on the panel.

8. Remove the excess flocking tape.

9. Verify function of remote handle and door lock, courtesy lamp, window switches, power mirror, and speakers.

10. Repeat procedure on other door(s) if necessary.
