P0403 EGR Solenoid Circuit
NAME OF CODEEGR Solenoid Circuit
WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition key on and engine running and battery voltage > 10.4 volts.
SET CONDITION
The EGR solenoid control circuit is not in the expected state when requested to operate by the PCM.
THEORY OF OPERATION
The EGR solenoid is actuated by the PCM when the engine is at normal operating temperature. Throttle position sensor shows other than idle or WOT and MAP is in mid operating range. The PCM looks at current flow when actuating the solenoid.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Open or shorted control circuit
- Open ASD relay output circuit
- Open or shorted solenoid coil
- Powertrain control module failure
- Connector terminals
- Connector wires
INACTIVE TROUBLE CODE CONDITION
You have just attempted to simulate the condition that initially set the trouble Code message. The following additional checks may assist you in identifying a possible intermittent problem:
- Visually inspect related wire harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
- Visually inspect the related harnesses. Look for chafed, pierced, or partially broken wire.
- Refer to any hotlines or technical service bulletins that may apply.
