Transponder Communication Failure Trouble Code
NAME OF CODETransponder Communication Failure
WHEN MONITORED
At ignition ON and during Key Programming Mode.
SET CONDITION
This failure condition exists when an invalid message format is received from the transponder after five consecutive transponder read attempts
THEORY OF OPERATION
At ignition ON or during key programming, the SKIM module performs a communication process with the transponder. The SKIM attempts powering up the transponder and activates the secret algorithm within the transponder. The transponder then sends a response to the SKIM. If the response is formatted correctly, the communication process between the SKIM and the transponder is continued. If the response is not formatted correctly, after five consecutive reads, no further communication attempts are made. This code is set and the engine will start, run for approximately two seconds, then stall.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Damaged transponder (key)
- Invalid Key (no transponder/wrong transponder
- Electromagnetic Noise
- Defective Sentry Key Immobilizer Module
