Upper

REMOVAL
Follow removal steps outlined in the illustration, noting the following.





1. Use special tool to separate the ball joint and knuckle.

CAUTION:
- Be sure to tie the cord of the special tool to a nearby part.
- Loosen the nut but do not remove it.

INSPECTION
- Check the bushings for wear and deterioration.
- Check the upper arm for bends or damage.
- Check all bolts for condition and straightness.

INSTALLATION
Follow removal steps in reverse order for installation noting the following.





1. Install the upper arm shaft assembly at the angle shown.





NOTE: If the upper arm shaft is installed at the above-mentioned angle, the reference dimension is determined as shown: A: 299.9 mm (11.8 inch) B: 234.0 mm (9.2 inch).

2. Adjust front wheel alignment.
4. Check the dust cover for cracks or damage by pushing on it with finger.
