Tie Rod End: Service and Repair

BALL JOINT DUST COVER REPLACEMENT
Only when the dust cover is damaged accidentally during service work, replace the dust cover as follows:
1. Remove the dust cover from the tie rod end.





2. Pack dust cover interior with multipurpose grease.
3. Apply 3M ATD Part No. 8663 or equivalent to dust cover lip.
4. Using the special tool, install the dust cover to the tie rod end ball joint.
5. Check the dust cover for cracks or damage by pushing it with finger.
