Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair






REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Crankshaft Bolt Backing Plate Removal
Stop the crankshaft pulley from turning, and remove the crankshaft bolt backing plate.

Caution Use only the specified special tools, or the crankshaft pulley damper could be damaged.





Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Removal
(1) Make a notch in the lip of the oil seal with a knife, etc.
(2) Cover the end of (-) screwdriver with a shop towel, and insert into the notched section of the oil seal, and lever out the oil seal to remove it.

Caution Do not damage the crankshaft and the oil seal case.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS





Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installation
(1) Apply a small amount of engine oil to the oil seal lip and then insert.
(2) Tap the oil seal into the cylinder block.





Crankshaft Bolt Backing Plate Installation
Stop the crankshaft pulley from turning, and then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 92 Nm (68 ft. lbs.)

Caution Use only the specified special tools, or the crankshaft pulley damper could be damaged.
