Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

Master Cylinder/Brake Booster Components Removal:






REMOVAL
1. Drain brake fluid.
2. On models with a manual transmission remove clutch fluid reservoir bracket.
3. Remove battery.
4. Remove relay assembly mounting bolts.
5. Remove washer tank mounting bolts.
6. Follow removal procedure in above image.

INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in above image in reverse order for installation.





2. Install the vacuum hose to the brake booster nipple as shown. Secure the hose using the hose clip.

CAUTION:
- The check valve and the pipe part of the brake booster must not contact each other.
- Connect so that the marking faces upwards.

Install the other end of the vacuum hose fully onto its port on the engine. Secure the hose using the hose clip.
3. Install washer tank mounting bolts.
4. Install relay assembly mounting bolts.
5. Install the battery.
6. Models equipped with manual transmissions, install the clutch fluid reservoir bracket.
7. Fill master cylinder with brake fluid.
8. Bleed the brake system.
9. Adjust brake pedal.
