Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Drain the brake fluid.
2. Follow removal procedure in the above image.

INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure outlined in the image in reverse order for installation.
2. Remove the drive shaft.

3. Set the special tool to the front hub assembly as shown above.

4. Measure hub torque to obtain value (A) with pads removed to measure brake drag torque. Torque value will be used later to calculate brake drag force with the pads installed.

NOTE: Tighten the nuts to secure the disc to the hub.

5. Securely attach the pad clip to the caliper support.

6. Clean piston and insert into cylinder (caliper) with special tool.
7. Be careful that the piston boot does not catch and tear as the caliper assembly and lock pin are installed.
8. Check brake drag torque as follows.

a. Start engine and hold brake pedal down for 5 seconds. [Pedal depression force: approximately 196 N (44 lbs.)].
b. Stop engine.
c. Turn brake disc forward 10 times.

d. Check hub torque to obtain value (B) with spring scale.
e. Calculate the drag torque of the disc brake by calculating the difference between hub torque (B) and hub torque (A).
Standard Value: 69 N (15.4 lbs.) [4 Nm (35 inch lbs.)] or less.

9. If the difference between brake drag torque and hub torque exceeds standard value, disassemble piston and clean the piston. Check for corrosion or worn piston seal, and check the sliding condition of the lock pin and guide pin.

10. Fill the master cylinder with brake fluid.
11. Bleed the brake system.
