Brake Pedal Height
1. Turn back the carpet, etc. under the brake pedal.
Checking Brake Pedal Height:
2. Measure the brake pedal height as illustrated. If the brake pedal height is not within the standard value, adjust as follows:
Standard Value (A): 175 - 180 mm (6.9 - 7.1 inches) (From the surface of melting sheet to the face of pedal pad.)
a. Disconnect the stop light switch connector, loosen the lock nut, and move the stop light switch to a position where it does not contact the brake pedal arm.
Turning Operating Rod To Adjust Brake Pedal Height:
b. Adjust the brake pedal height by turning the operating rod with pliers (with the operating rod lock nut loosened), until the correct brake pedal height is obtained.
Tightening Lock Nut:
c. Screw in the stop light switch until it contacts the brake pedal stopper (just before the brake pedal is caused to move). Back off the stop light switch 1/2 to 1 turn and secure by tightening the lock nut.
d. Connect the connector of the stop light switch.
e. Check that the stop light is not illuminated with the brake pedal released.
3. For vehicles with A/T, check the shift locking mechanism.
4. Put back the carpet to its original position.
