DISCUSSION:

Some anti-theft devices currently available in the aftermarket utilize a metal collar mounted on the steering column to cover and protect the ignition switch. These devices are not recommended for use on vehicles equipped with the Sentry Key Immobilizer System. The Sentry Key Immobilizer relies on a radio signal being transmitted between the key and the module mounted in the steering column. The metal collar used in these anti-theft devices can shield the module, preventing this radio communication. Situations have occurred where vehicles could not be started with these devices installed.
