To: All Chrysler-Plymouth Dealers
Subject:
Emissions Recall # 7511 and # 7512 -- VECI Label Replacement
Models:
1998 Model Year Chrysler Sebring Convertible (JX) Vehicles Equipped With a 2.4L Engine ("X" in the 8th VIN Position) Built Through September 8, 1997 (MDH 090813) With a:
^ Federal Emission Control System (Sales Code --NAA)-- Recall # 7511
^ California Emission Control System (Sales Code -- NAE)-- Recall # 7512
The Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label installed on about 725 of the above listed vehicles contains an error in the hose routing diagram. The hose routing diagram is often used during in-use inspection and maintenance (I/M) testing to verify proper emissions related hose connections. As a result, an incorrect label may cause the vehicle to fail an emissions test. To correct this condition, a new VECI label must be installed.
Replacement labels are being mailed directly to owners. The owners are requested to install the labels themselves or, if preferred, to arrange for dealer installation of the owner-supplied label without charge.
