ABS WARNING LAMP CIRCUIT

NOTE: You must perform Test 1A, before proceeding with this test.

When Its Monitored
This test is conducted at power-up. The Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) can control as well as monitor the Antilock Brake System (ABS) warning lamp function. If the CAB detects a trouble code in the ABS system, it will activate the warning lamp driver. The trouble code is stored if the CAB detects the lamp on when it should be off, or off when it should be on at power up.

Possible Causes:
^ ABS warning lamp driver open.
^ ABS warning lamp driver shorted.
^ Failed warning lamp bulb.
^ Open fused ignition switch output to bulb.
^ Failed CAB.

Inactive Trouble Code Condition
You have just attempted to simulate the condition that initially set the trouble code message. The following additional checks may assist you in identifying a possible intermittent problem:

^ Visually inspect related wire harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.

^ Visually inspect the related harnesses. Look for chafed, pierced, or partially broken wire.

^ Refer to any hotlines or technical service bulletins that may apply.
