Lower Compression Arm
1. Lift the vehicle using a frame hoist to allow the suspension to be unloaded.2. Check the lower compression arm ball joint breakaway torque using the procedures in the appropriate Service Manual (Group 2).
3. If the breakaway torque is out of the specified range of 0.5 - 2.5 Nm (4 - 22 in. lbs.), replace the lower compression arm assembly.
NOTE:
IF AN OFFSET COMPRESSION ARM IS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE YOU ARE WORKING ON, BE SURE TO REPLACE IT WITH AN OFFSET ARM.
(SEE TSB 02-13-95 FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT)
4. Road test the vehicle and check if the noise still exists. If it does, the front suspension components are not at fault and further diagnosis will be required.
