Steering Gear Retention Hydraulic Pressure Test


Retention Pressure Test Special Tool Installation:





1. Disconnect pressure hose from oil pump, then connect retention hydraulic pressure test special tools.
2. Bleed air, then turn steering wheel several times while vehicle is not moving so fluid temperature rises.
3. Start engine, then idle at 900-1100 rpm.
4. Fully close, then fully open shutoff valve of pressure gauge.
5. Turn steering wheel all the way to left or right, then ensure retention hydraulic pressure is at standard value of 1209-1309 psi.
6. If pressure is not within standard value, overhaul steering gear box.
7. Measure fluid pressure again.
8. Remove special tools, then tighten pressure hose to specifications.
9. Bleed system.
