Inside Vehicle

1. Open windows and doors of vehicle.
2. Disconnect and remove battery from vehicle.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting battery cable before doing any further work. SRS system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy air bag for a short time even after battery has been disconnected.

3. Remove lower steering column cover, then disconnect clockspring red two-pin connector from body wiring connector.
4. Remove glove compartment and out case, then disconnect passenger's air bag module red two-pin connector from body wiring harness.
5. Connect two wires, 20 feet in length, to two leads of special SRS air bag adapter harness A tool No. MB686560, or equivalent. Cover connections with tape.
CAUTION:
Other ends of two wires should be connected to each other to prevent unexpected deployment of air bag.

6. Connect SRS air bag adapter harness A to clockspring connector.
7. Connect SRS air bag adapter harness A to passenger red two-pin connector and pass deployment wires out of vehicle.
8. From as far away as possible, disconnect two wires from each other, then connect them to 12 volt battery. Read following cautions before proceeding.
CAUTIONS:
a. Before deploying air bag in this manner, first check to ensure there is no one in or near vehicle. Wear safety glasses.
b. Inflator will be quite hot immediately after deployment, wait 30 minutes to allow air bag to cool.
c. Do not inhale gas from air bag.
