Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Injector Replacement:

WARNING: Release fuel pressure prior to opening fuel system.

PREREMOVAL OPERATIONS
- Disconnect & remove battery
- Remove Air Intake Hose

REMOVAL STEPS
1. High-pressure fuel hose connection
2. 0-ring
3. Injector harness connector
4. Fuel rail
5. Injector connectors
6. Retainers
7. Injectors -- Remove & install the fuel rail with the injectors attached to it.

CAUTION: Do not drop the injector.

8. 0-rings
9. 0-rings


INSTALLATION
Reverse above steps to install -- noting the following:

Fuel Injector:

For Injector Installation
a. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the 0-ring.

CAUTION: Do not let the engine oil get into the fuel rail.

b. While turning the injector to the left and right, install it to the fuel rail.
c. Check to be sure that the injector turns smoothly.
- If it does not turn smoothly, the 0-ring may be trapped, remove the injector and then reinsert it into the fuel rail and check again.

For High Pressure Fuel Hose Connection
When installing the high pressure fuel hose to the fuel rail, apply a small amount of engine oil to the hose union, and then insert -- being careful not to damage the C-ring.

CAUTION: Do not let the engine oil get into the fuel rail.

POST-INSTALLATION OPERATIONS
- Install Battery and Air Intake Hose
- Pressurize fuel system and check for leakage
