Engine: Service and Repair
1. Relieve fuel system pressure as described under "Precautions".2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Drain engine coolant into a suitable container.
4. Mark and remove hood.
5. On models equipped with manual transaxle, remove transaxle assembly as outlined in "Clutch & Manual Transaxle" section.
6. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, remove transaxle as outlined in "Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles" chapter.
7. On all models, remove engine under cover.
8. Disconnect the following electrical harness connectors:

16. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose and vapor hose.
17. Disconnect front exhaust pipe connection.
18. Support engine with suitable jack.
19. Hold engine assembly with chain block or similar tool.
20. Place jack against engine oil pan with a piece of wood in between, then raise engine so the weight of the engine is no longer being applied to mounting bracket.
21. Remove mounting bracket.
22. Ensure all cables, hoses and harness connectors have been remove from engine, then lift chain block to remove engine from engine compartment.
23. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. When connecting high pressure fuel hose to fuel rail, apply clean engine oil to hose union.
b. Tighten all fasteners to specifications.
