Rear
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove both rear wheel and tire assemblies.2. Remove shock absorber clevis bracket as outlined under "Shock Absorber, Replace" on both sides of vehicle.

3. Remove muffler support bracket from rear frame.
4. Remove rear exhaust pipe hanger bracket from rear suspension crossmember and move exhaust down far as possible.
5. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from ball joint.
6. On side of vehicle requiring control arm removal, separate control arm ball joint from rear knuckle using puller tool No. CT-1106, or equivalent. Reinstall castle nut on ball joint stud to protect threads.
7. Position a suitable floor jack and block of wood under center of rear suspension crossmember to support and lower crossmember during removal. Do not put strain on brake flex hoses or damage may occur.
8. Remove routing clips for wheel speed sensor cable from brackets on both upper control arms.
9. Remove four bolts securing rear suspension crossmember to rear frame rails.

10. Lower rear suspension crossmember far enough to access upper control arm pivot bar to crossmember attaching bolts, then the two bolts attaching upper control arm to crossmember.
11. Remove control arm from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Align upper control arm pivot bar with mounting holes in rear suspension crossmember.
b. Install the two pivot bar nuts to crossmember attaching bolts. Tighten to specifications.
c. Using suitable jackstand, raise rear suspension crossmember up to frame rails and loosely install the four attaching nuts.
d. Position appropriate size drift into position hole in each side of rear suspension crossmember and crossmember locating holes in frame rails, then tighten frame rail attaching bolts to specifications.
e. Install upper ball joint stud in knuckle, then the ball join castle nut and tighten to specifications.
