Shift Interlock Cable: Adjustments

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove gearshift knob set screw and knob.
2. Remove floor console assembly.
3. Loosen adjustment nut on interlock lever, then place ignition in On position.
4. Remove interlock cable from shifter housing, then slide cable out of groove in interlock lever.
5. Inspect interlock cable as follows:
a. With ignition in Off position and key removed, interlock cable should not move.
b. With ignition in On position cable should slide freely when pulled and return to bottomed out position when released.
c. If cable does not operate as specified, then cable is improperly installed or kinked.
6. Place shifter in P park position, then slide interlock cable into groove on adjustment lever.
7. Slip cable into housing until it snaps in place, then ensure shift lever remains in P park position and remove key from ignition.
8. Loosen interlock cable adjustment nut. When adjustment nut is loosened cable automatically indexes itself to correct position.
9. Tighten adjustment nut, then install gearshift knob and set screw.
