Wind Noise/Water Leak At Top Of "A" Pillar
MODELS:
1996 - 1997 (JX) Sebring Convertible
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 11, 1996 (MDH 11-11-XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Black foam protruding between the outside top corners of "A" post and convertible top from the front rail weatherstrip. If foam is protruding and/or missing a water leak or windnoise may also be experienced.
DIAGNOSIS:
Visually inspect for black foam protruding at the front corners. If black foam is showing in the location described, perform the Repair Procedure. If no foam is found, but a water leak can be confirmed in that corner, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 04724458AB Weatherstrip, Front Rail (Right)
1 04724459AB Weatherstrip, Front Rail (Left)
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the front rail weatherstrip.
1. Partially raise the convertible top.
2. Using a trim stick, special tool G-4755, separate one end of weatherstrip from retainer channel.
3. Remove the weatherstrip from the vehicle.
4. Position the new weatherstrip on vehicle. Push weatherstrip into retainer channel, aligning embossment on backside of weatherstrip to corner of retainer.
5. Lower convertible top to header.
6. Adjust position of weatherstrip so that weatherstrip is butted tightly against A-pillar seal and center side rail weatherstrip.
7. Secure convertible top and check for proper alignment, adjust as needed.
8. Repeat procedure for other side if required.
