SAFETY RECALL TO INSPECT YOUR VEHICLE'S LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINTS AND REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARYDear Chrysler Vehicle Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1995 through 1997 Chrysler Cirrus, Dodge Stratus and Plymouth Breeze; and 1996 through 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible vehicles.
The problem is...
The front lower control arms on your vehicle (identified on the enclosed form), may separate from the steering knuckle due to ball joint corrosion. Ball joint corrosion may occur from either a damaged boot or an improperly crimped ball joint end cover. This could result in a loss of steering control and cause an accident without prior warning.
What Chrysler and your dealer will do...
Chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect both front lower control arm ball joint boots and end cover crimps on your vehicle and replace one or both lower control arm assemblies, if necessary. The inspection will take about 1/2 hour to complete. If lower control arm replacement is necessary, an additional 1/2 hours will be required. However, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed.
What you must do to ensure your safety...
^ Simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.
^ Bring the enclosed Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. It explains the required service to the dealer.
