The steering column used on this model has been designed to be serviced as an assembly except for wiring, switches, shrouds and the steering wheel. Most steering column components can be serviced without removing the column from the vehicle.

The only other serviceable component is the steering column shaft coupler. If the coupler requires replacement due to a seized bearing, insufficient bearing staking or improper bearing seating, proceed as follows:
1. Remove steering column assembly as described under "Steering Column, Replace."
2. Install puller tool No. 6831-A, or equivalent, through center of roll pin in flex joint and install knurled nut.
3. Using a screw driver inserted between flex joint and steering column lower mounting bracket pry flex joint off of steering column shaft.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
