Suction Port Fitting Replacement

The power steering pump must be removed from the vehicle for replacement of the suction port O-ring seal. Refer to "Power Steering Pump, Replace" section for removal procedure.
Power Steering Pump Removal and Installation

Fig.14 Suction Port Fitting Replacement:




1. Remove power steering fluid supply hose from power steering pump suction port fitting.
2. Remove suction port fitting attaching bolt.
3. Remove and discard O-ring seal from suction port fitting.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install new O-ring on suction fitting.
b. Install suction port fitting to power steering pump. Install and securely tighten suction port fitting attaching bolt.
c. Install power steering fluid supply hose on suction port fitting, ensure hose clamp is installed on hose past upset bead on suction port fitting.
d. Refill fluid and bleed system of air. Refer to "Power Steering System Bleed" for air bleeding procedure.
