A. Inspect For Mechanical Tensioner

1. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist and then remove the right front wheel and tire assembly.

2. Remove the right front wheel well lower splash shield.





3. Inspect the lower timing belt cover for a timing belt routing label as shown in Figure 1:

A. If the label indicates that the engine is equipped with a mechanical tensioner, continue with Section B -- Timing Belt Replacement.

B. If no label is present, the vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic tensioner and no further action is necessary. Reinstall the splash shield and the wheel and tire assembly and return the vehicle to the customer.
