Oil Pressure Warning Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATIONThe low oil pressure lamp is used to alert the operator that engine oil pressure has dropped below a predetermined pressure. The oil pressure switch uses a switch that CLOSES when the pressure is below the predetermined level. The switch is case grounded to the engine block.
Power for the lamp is supplied on the F18 circuit. This circuit also powers the Anti-Lock lamp, located internal to the cluster, high speed fan relay, A/C Clutch relay, and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This circuit is protected by a 10 Ampfuse located in cavity 9 of the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
The ground side of the lamp is controlled by the G6 circuit. This circuit is connected from the instrument cluster to the engine oil pressure switch.
