Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation

Fan control is accomplished in two ways. The fan always runs when the A/C pressure reaches 265 psi. The fan is also turned on by the temperature of the coolant which is sensed by the coolant temperature sensor. The sensor sends this temperature reading to the engine controller. The engine controller then turns on the fan through the fan relay.

Switching through the engine controller provides fan control for the following conditions:
1. Fans will not run during cranking until engine starts, no matter what coolant temperature is.
2. Fan runs according to charts shown.
