Fluid Level Check

See TSB 21-010-06 4/14/2006

TRANSAXLE
With vehicle on level surface, start engine and operate at idle speed for a minimum of one minute. Move selector through all transaxle ranges, then place selector lever in Park position. Remove dipstick and check fluid level. Transaxle should be at operating temperature when checking fluid level (160-180°F). Fluid level should be within the Hot range on dipstick. If necessary, add MOPAR ATF plus 4 (Type 9602) automatic transmission fluid to bring fluid level within the Hot range.

NOTE: Engine and Transaxle should be at normal operating temperature before performing this procedure.

FLUID LEVEL CHECK USING DRB
1. Start engine and apply parking brake.
2. Hook up DRB III scan tool and select transmission.
3. Select sensors.
4. Read the transmission temperature value.
5. Compare the fluid temperature value with the chart.
6. Adjust transmission fluid level shown on the dipstick according to the chart.
7. Check transmission for leaks.

DIFFERENTIAL

The differential sump is checked separately from the transaxle. A fill plug located on the side of the transaxle must be removed to check fluid level, Fig.6. Fluid should be level with bottom of the fill hole. If necessary, add MOPAR petroleum based hypoid gear lubricant 80W-90 to bring level to bottom of fill hole. Synthetic gear lubricants should not be used.
