Revised Door Check Straps

THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 23-52-96 REV. A DATED SEP. 27, 1996, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. NEW PARTS HAVE BEEN ADDED AND ARE MARKED WITH **ASTERISKS**.

1995 - 1996 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE MAY 15, 1996 (MDH 05-15-XX) WHEN REPLACING FRONT DOOR CHECK STRAPS AND FEB. 16, 1996 (MDH 02-16-XX) WHEN REPLACING REAR DOOR CHECK STRAPS.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The door check straps may cause a snapping noise, and/or increased travel efforts after latch has been released. This condition is most likely to occur in cold ambient temperatures. Revised check strap assemblies have been developed to correct these conditions.

**AR(1) 06504590 Screw, Check Strap To Hinge, (one per check strap)**
AR(2) 06504837AA Screw, Check Strap To Door, (two per check strap)
1 04780384 Check Strap, R.F. Door
1 04780385 Check Strap, L.F. Door
1 04780260 Check Strap, R.R. Door
1 04780261 Check Strap, L.R. Door

NOTE:
NEW CHECK STRAP TO INNER DOOR SHEET METAL ATTACHING SCREWS, P/N 06504837AA, **AND CHECK STRAP TO HINGE ATTACHING SCREW, P/N 06504590**, MUST BE USED WHEN INSTALLING NEW CHECK STRAPS.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves installation of revised door check straps.

1. Close door glass.

2. Remove door trim panel.

3. Remove screws holding check strap to door end frame **and discard**.

4. Remove screw holding check strap to door hinge **and discard**.

5. Separate check strap from vehicle.

6. Place revised check strap in position on vehicle.

7. Install screw, **p/n 06504590**, holding check strap to door hinge.

8. Install screws, p/n 06504837AA, to hold check strap to door end frame.

9. Install door trim panel.

10. Repeat procedure on other doors as necessary.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
