Repair Procedure

This bulletin involves installing a transmission fluid auxiliary cooler and air seals between the radiator and radiator closure panel.

1. Release hood latch and open hood.

2. Remove push-in fasteners holding top of fascia and/or grille assembly to radiator closure panel cross member.

3. Hoist and support vehicle on safety stands.

4. Remove push-in screw and retainers holding fascia to bottom of lower cross member and bottom of splash shields.

5. Using a trim stick, pry wheelhouse edges from behind fascia forward of front wheels.

6. Remove screws holding fascia to bottom offenders rearward of the parking lamps.

7. Slide fascia forward to disengage hooks holding fascia to bottom of fenders.

8. Separate fascia from vehicle.

9. Disengage fog lamp wire connectors from back of fog lamps, if equipped.

10. Remove bumper reinforcement beam (face bar).

11. Remove upper radiator cross member and set on top of engine. It is not necessary to remove hood release cable from cross member.





12. Hold auxiliary cooler in position on front side of A/C condenser and mark mounting locations (Figure 1).

13. Remove (4) A/C condenser to radiator attaching screws.





14. Remove A/C condenser tube attaching bracket on right side edge of radiator (Figure 2).

15. Insert mounting straps from the radiator side of the condenser through the fins in the previously marked locations. Install spacers, auxiliary cooler and locks.

16. Install left side cooler hose support bracket, start screw, do not tighten (Figure 2).

17. Install right side condenser tube support bracket, start screw, do not tighten.





18. Slide air seals between radiator and condenser, position over condenser mounting brackets (Figure 3).

19. Install and tighten (4) A/C condenser to radiator attaching screws.

20. Tighten A/C condenser tube attaching bracket on right side of radiator and cooler tube attaching bracket on left side of radiator.

21. Remove lower transmission fluid cooler line from radiator.

22. Install preformed cooler line from auxiliary cooler to lower radiator cooler nipple.

23. Install cooler line, p/n 04596420AB, from transmission outlet to upper cooler line from auxiliary cooler.

24. Install cooler line, p/n 04596630AA, from transmission inlet to upper radiator cooler nipple.

25. Install bumper reinforcement beam, fascia, head lamps, and upper radiator cross member. Use new fascia to lower cross member attaching screws/retainer, p/n 06502625.

26. Start engine, check transmission level, check for leaks, add Mopar ATF+2 Type 7176, p/n 04798233, as necessary.
