SUBJECT:
Water Leaking into Passenger Compartment From Behind Door Trim Panel

MODELS:
1995 - 1996 (JA) Breeze/Cirrus/Stratus

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Water leaking into passenger compartment from between door inner panel and door trim panel.

DIAGNOSIS:

Water test vehicle concentrating on the doors. If water is entering vehicle from between the door inner panel and door trim panel, perform the Repair Procedure.

AR 4814050 Watershield, Right Front Door
AR 4814051 Watershield, Left Front Door
AR 4814052 Watershield, Right Rear Door
AR 4814053 Watershield, Left Rear Door
AR 4814228 Tape, Watershield
AR 4814229 Tape, Watershield
AR 6034336 Clip, Door Trim Panel

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing door trim panel clip(s) and/or door watershield(s) and adding tape to seal watershield.

1. Remove door trim panel.

2. Check trim panel clips for damage. Replace as necessary with P/N 6034336.

3. If water appears to be coming from behind watershield, remove watershield.

4. Clean entire surface of door inner panel with isopropyl alcohol to remove adhesive and any dirt which may be on the surface.

NOTE:
ALL EXCESS ADHESIVE MUST BE REMOVED FROM INNER DOOR SURFACE TO PREVENT POOR ADHESION OF THE NEW SHIELD AND RELATED BUZZ, SQUEAK, AND RATTLES.

5. Install new watershield onto door inner panel being careful to position it in original position.

NOTE:
ADHESIVE MUST BE COMPLETELY WIPED DOWN WITH HAND PRESSURE TO INSURE PROPER ADHESION.

6. Apply P/N's 4814228/9, Tape, to edge of front door watershield as shown.





7. Apply P/N 4814228, Tape, to edge of rear door watershield as shown.

8. Install door trim panel.
