Wiper Switch: Service and Repair






The multi-function switch contains circuits for hazard warning switching and turn signal cancellation. The switch is mounted on the left-hand side of the steering column. Refer to "Turn Signal Switch, Replace" for turn signal switch service procedures.


REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models with tilt column, remove tilt lever.
3. On all models, remove upper and lower steering column covers.
4. Remove tamper proof screws attaching switch to steering column.
5. Carefully pull switch away from column. Release wiring connector lock, disconnect connector from switch, then remove switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Install wiring connector to switch. Ensure switch locking tab is fully seated in wiring connector.
2. Mount switch on column and torque attaching screws to 17 in-lbs.
3. Install upper and lower steering column covers and torque attaching screws to 17 in-lbs.
4. On models with tilt column, install tilt lever.
5. On all models, connect battery ground cable.
6. Check all functions of switch for proper operation.
