Window Glass: Adjustments

The content of this article reflects the changes called out by TSB 26-02-95.

DOOR GLASS ADJUSTMENTS
The door glass should compress the surrounding weatherstrips enough to keep out water and reduce wind noise but not impede door closure. On a properly aligned glass, a 75 mm (3 in.) wide strip of writing paper can be pulled between the glass and weatherstrip without tearing.

ADJUSTING UP-STOP
The up-stop should not be used to make rotation adjustments to the door glass. The up-stops should contact both lift plate tabs at the same time.

1. Remove latch handle trim bezel.
2. Remove door trim bolster.
3. Loosen nuts holding up-stops to inner door panel.
4. Raise glass to the desired full up position.
5. Place up-stop against the stop tabs on the lift plate.
6. Tighten nuts to up-stops.
7. Close door and test weatherstrip compression with a paper strip.
8. Water test vehicle and road test vehicle for wind excess wind noise.
9. Install door trim bolster.
10. Install latch handle trim bezel.

ADJUSTING GLASS FORWARD, BACK AND ROTATION
1. Remove door trim bolster.
2. Roll glass up until the nut on lift plate align with square holes access in door panel.
3. Loosen nuts holding door glass to lift plate.
4. Shift the glass into the desired position (forward, back or tip the glass front up or down).
5. Tighten nuts to hold glass to lift plate.
6. Close door and test weatherstrip compression with a paper strip.
7. Water test vehicle and road test vehicle for wind excess wind noise.
8. Install door trim bolster.

ADJUSTING TOP OF GLASS IN OR OUT
1. Remove door trim bolster.
2. Roll glass up until the guide bar slide adjusters are visible in access hole in inner door panel.
3. Loosen bolts holding guide bar slide to lift plate.
4. Push or pull top of glass to desired position.
5. Tighten bolts to hold slide to lift plate.
6. Roll glass up.
7. Close door and test weatherstrip compression with a paper strip.
8. Water test vehicle and road test vehicle for wind excess wind noise.

ADJUSTING GLASS STABILIZERS AND GUIDE HOOK
1. Remove door trim panel.
2. Loosen bolts holding stabilizers to top of door inner panel.
3. Position stabilizers to allow glass side play of a maximum 3 mm (0.120 in.). Glass should travel freely up and down without excess resistance.
4. Tighten bolts to hold stabilizers to door panel.
5. Loosen bolt holding guide bar hook to top of door inner panel.
6. Position guide hook to make enough contact to slightly pull to of glass inward when lift plate reaches the up-stops.
7. Tighten bolt to hold guide hook to door panel.
8. Roll glass up.
9. Close door and test weatherstrip compression with a paper strip.
10. Water test vehicle and road test vehicle for wind excess wind noise.
11. Install door trim panel.
