Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Description and Operation
OPERATIONThe Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) operates independently from the Body Control Module (BCM) with the exception of the following three functions:
Seat Belt Warning Lamp - The BCM turns on the seat belt warning lamp for approximately six seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON.
Low Fuel Warning Lamp - The BCM turns on the low fuel lamp when the fuel level drop to approximately 2.8 gallons including tank reserve.
Check Gauges Lamp - The BCM turns on the "CHECK GAUGES" lamp when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) issues a high temperature warning or a charging system failure via the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus system.
