Convertible Top "Flutter" Noise
MODELS:
1994 (AJ) LeBaron Convertible
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Convertible top makes a "flutter" type noise on both sides of the top above the side door glass. This noise occurs at highway speeds, typically above 50 mph.
PARTS REQUIRED:
AR 4303222 Vinyl Foam Tape
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves installing vinyl foam tape to both sides of the convertible top under the side cable pockets.
1. Lower both right and left door and quarter windows.
2. Release the front folding top latches and raise the top front section until it is almost vertical (See Illustration).
3. Reach under the side top cover and pull out the cable pocket and rotate the entire length to gain access to the underside. It may be necessary to raise or lower the top slightly to be able to gain access to the entire length of the cable pocket.
4. Pre-cut two 27-1/2" pieces of vinyl foam tape, P/N 4303222. Start the tape at one end of the cable pocket and secure under the entire length. Press down on the entire length and then remove the outer protective paper.
5. Tuck the cable pocket back underneath the top cover.
6. Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the opposite side.
7. Lower the folding top, secure the front top latches and raise the windows.
