Wrong Body Computer
Name of Code: Wrong Body ComputerWhen Monitored: Continuously with the ignition key ON.
Set Conditions: The wrong type of instrument cluster (electronic or mechanical) is installed for the type of Body Control Module (BCM) or the wrong BCM is installed for the type of instrument cluster.
Theory of Operation: A BCM that is designed to work with an electronic instrument monitors the cluster ID pins to determine if both are high. If either ID input is low, the code is set.
A BCM that is designed to work with a mechanical instrument cluster monitors the CCD bus. If an electronic instrument cluster message is received, the code is set.
Possible Causes:
^ Installed BCM not compatible with installed cluster.
NOTE: If a BCM for an electronic instrument cluster is installed in a vehicle with a mechanical instrument cluster, an additional possible cause for the code is that the BCM pin is shorted to ground.
