3.3.7 One Front Sensor Open

When Monitored

The ASDM monitors this circuit continuously while the ignition is on.

When Stored in Memory

This code will be set if the ASDM senses front sensor circuit resistance between 9800-10,200 Ohms (the sensors are connected in parallel inside the ASDM). If the ASDM senses resistance greater than 20K Ohms, a "Two Front Sensors Open" code will be set.

Effect

The air bag warning lamp will remain on as long as this fault is present with a minimum on-time of 12 seconds.

Possible Causes

This code may be set by loose or corroded connections, a defective sensor, damaged wiring, or an internal problem in the ASDM.

Follow the required test sequence starting with Test 1A.
