Quick-Connect Fitting Operation

Quick Connect Fittings:

Chassis Type Fuel Tubes

Note: Fuel injection quick connect fitting "O" rings, spacers, and retainers must be replaced each time a quick connect fitting is disconnected.

Removal

1. Disconnect the Quick-Connect fitting by pushing in on the plastic ring at the end of the fitting and pulling on the Quick-Connector. An open-end wrench may be used to assist in unlocking the fittings.
2. Once the Quick-connect fitting is disconnected, plug the fuel lines so that dirt and foreign particles do not enter the fuel lines.

Installation

Note: Before reassembling the Quick-Connect fittings, lubricate the fuel tube nipples with clean 30 weight engine oil.

1. Check that the black plastic ring is in the OUT position. If the release ring is stuck in the release position due to dirt accumulation or mushrooming of the release ring, the fitting should be replaced.
2. Connect the Quick-Connect fuel fittings by pushing the fitting onto the fuel tube nipple. The fitting should snap into place when it is locked.

Note: After the Quick-Connect fuel fittings have been installed, the connection should be verified by pulling on the lines.

3. Push the fuel tube into the connector until another audible click is heard. Check the connection by pulling back lightly on the fuel tube. It should remain inside the connector, locked in place.
